Iron Autumn
Ranging from an burnt orange to darker brown. Crystal rings range from a golden brown to a darker mahoganny. This color is primarily the result of Iron.
This glaze is an homage to Andy’s dad, Ray. Ray’s early career as a potter featured classic reduction fired stoneware and a traditional Ohata glaze was a key player in his repetoire. Ohata glazes include high amounts of Iron to saturate the glaze and cause micro crystals to grow. The Iron micro crystals of the father and the Zinc macro crystals of the son are a fitting progression for generational potters.
