What’s Included

Learn.

As a beginner throwing for the first time or a professional potter looking to expand their expertise, this series will cover everything from throwing to glazing to firing. No where else can you find tutorials that are as detailed and thorough. Not only will you learn what to do, but you will also learn common mistakes, how to avoid them and what variables Andy focuses on that so many other potters either ignore or fail to communicate. With this tutorial series Andy is not only showing you his recipes and techniques, he wants to help you do them as efficiently and as well as he does.

Create.

Working with porcelain and crystallaine glazes is an extremely rewarding creative outlet and potentially quite profitable. The throwing tutorials will reveal how to make a diversity of shapes and alterations that you can mix, match and iterate upon to create your own unique style. With Andy’s glaze recipes you will be able to persue a level of visual splendor and creative avenues that were never possible before. We can mask areas of the glaze and control the running, We can incorporate more interesting and illustrative designs, which opens up a whole new creative world. This level of control is something you will not find anywhere else, but Andy is doing his best to share it all.

Thrive.

Along with what to do and how to do it, Andy will also be covering how to streamline the process and make it more efficient so that you can sell your work and thrive. Production potter techniques will be shared along with slip casting instructions so that you have options. The glazes have also been refined to be more consistent and cost effective because they don’t run. This means that every firing can be a good firing and you don’t need to waste time, materials and kiln space on glaze catchers. This level of control is a huge innovation and is the sort of thing that typically gets locked away as a trade secret. Andy is more interested in sharing everything he can with the community and hopefully make it easier for potters to be successful.

“I think being a potter is the best hobby but also one of the hardest ways to make a living. I desperately want to make it easier.”

— Andy Boswell

“I know it sounds crazy, but I am really trying to give people all the tools they need to copy me perfectly and I am not worried about it.”

— Andy Boswell

“Sharing information is great, it lets us innovate more quickly, which is good for the community as a whole. Whenever I see other potters, I don’t think of them as competitors, they are my brothers and sisters in arms. It is us against the world.”

— Andy Boswell
